We’ll start this walk from Charles Street, off Hope Street in Old Glossop. At the end of Charles Street is a footpath accessed through a wooden gate, the path is a little rocky and overgrown, follow the path around and it straightens out into a track passing Blakemoor Plantation on your left and through a couple of wooden gates. After 1km the track splits into two paths, take the path on the left and head up to the triangulation point of Cock Hill.
The first part of this walk passes two plantations of fir trees called Blakelow Plantation and the disused Low Quarry. The Glossop Low Quarry track continues to Cock Hill, 426m above sea level.
From Woodhead Road follow the footpath next to The Byre cottage, through a stonemason's yard towards a derelict building. Follow the dry-stone wall next to Glossop Cemetery and down the hill over the stream and follow the path over a few stiles toward Little Padfield.
